Environmental protection and the absence of harmful substances are an important aspect, especially in clothing textiles, and consumers are becoming increasingly aware of this. For this reason TWD Fibres GmbH was one of the first companies to have its DIOLEN® Polyester and TIMBRELLE® Polyamide 6.6 yarns certified according to the stricter criteria of STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Appendix 6.
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is since many years an independent and globally uniform label for non-toxic textiles. These are awarded the STANDARD 100 label if they have been successfully tested for the absence of harmful and environmentally relevant chemicals and contribute effectively to consumer protection. Test criteria and limit values go far beyond the legal requirements. Basically: the more intensive the contact of skin and textile, the higher are the demands. The catalogue of criteria set out in Appendix 6 is only used as a basis for testing if the applicant expressly requests it. The tightened limit values contained therein were developed especially for companies with a clear focus on the detox campaign. The stricter limit values compared to those in Appendix 4, which would otherwise apply, correspond to the requirements of the detox campaign to ban potentially dangerous substances from textiles and textile production.
The OEKO-TEX® laboratory tests currently comprise around 100 parameters and are performed on the basis of internationally standardised testing standards and other established testing procedures. These tests include simulations that cover all possible ways in which detoxes can enter the human body.
The successful certification according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Appendix 6 of DIOLEN® Polyester and TIMBRELLE® Polyamide 6.6 yarns can be approved for all subsequent process stages without having to have the finished product certified again separately.
It only needs to be checked to additional materials in production. Thus, duplicate checks are avoided. As a result of this certification TWD Fibres takes over a large financial and temporal share of a successful certification including the end product according to Appendix 6.
